FIG_02Pendle · v1.0

The instrument, in detail.

Visual stimulation on screen. Stereo audio in headphones. Configurable speed, colour, shape, and pattern. Swap modalities mid-session without breaking the rhythm. Every parameter is logged automatically for your notes.

PSession summary

Pendle logs every set automatically and gives you a copy-paste-ready summary at the end.

Every detail, tuneable.

Visual on screen. Audio in stereo. Speed in BPM. Eight shapes. Any colour. Configure everything without leaving the keyboard.

01 · Stimulus

Any colour. Any shape. Sensible defaults.

Open colour picker — set it to anything. Marigold is the default because it works. Your client sees exactly what you see.

02 · Auditory

Stereo bilateral tones.

220 Hz left, 330 Hz right, panned hard. Headphones recommended.

03 · Shortcuts

Every control, on the keyboard.

Space pauses. Arrow keys nudge speed. No mouse required in the session room.

04 · Shapes

Eight shapes to choose from.

Some clients track a butterfly better than a dot. Swap mid-set; the rhythm doesn't break.

05 · Telehealth

One link per session. Any browser. No download.

Send the link — Zoom chat, email, side-by-side in the room. It works.

06 · Privacy

Opaque client IDs only.

No names. No emails. No clinical content. Ever.

07 · Session log

Auto-logged session notes.

Every set, parameter and switch — captured. Copy at the end, into your own notes.

FIG_03 — Evidence base5 endorsing bodies

Backed by the research.

EMDR is a first-line treatment for PTSD, recommended by every major clinical body. Pendle is built to do the part the research is clearest on — the rhythm itself — without getting in the way.

EMDR is recommended as a first-line treatment for PTSD by the UK's NICE guidelines, the American Psychiatric Association, the US Department of Veterans Affairs, and the World Health Organization.

Multiple meta-analyses of randomised controlled trials have shown significant symptom reductions compared to control conditions (Chen et al., 2014; Cuijpers et al., 2020).

EMDR is effective regardless of modality — eye movements, audio tones, or tactile pulses. What matters is the therapist, the protocol fidelity, and the rhythm itself.

Online and digital delivery has comparable efficacy to in-person delivery (Liou et al., 2022). EMDRIA and EMDR Europe have endorsed digitally-mediated delivery as valid practice.

FAQ

Common questions.

Both. The session link works in any browser, on any device. Use it side-by-side in the room or share it via Zoom chat.

We don't store any. Pendle uses opaque client IDs only — no names, no emails, no clinical content. The technique summary is yours to copy into your own notes; we don't keep a copy.

For visual BLS, a tablet or laptop is best — phone screens are too narrow for effective eye-tracking. For auditory BLS, any device with headphones works fine.

Functionally, they're equivalent — research has not found one BLS modality superior to another. The practical differences are convenience: Pendle works in any browser, costs nothing, and adapts per client.

No. Pendle is a completely standalone product — you don't need a Konfidens account to use any part of it. Konfidens is a separate practice management platform from the same team, if you ever happen to be looking for one.
